Shalyn was born in Denver, Colorado, to her loving Indonesian parents. The younger of two, she wanted to know how to play piano like her elder sister. She also sang from a young age. In high school, Shalyn started to learn classical piano, although she never wanted to be a classical pianist, she continued for her love and appreciation for this beautiful music. Shalyn started to train in contemporary voice at the age of sixteen and recorded her first pop album My Dream two years later.
After a year studying Carnatic voice in South India, Shalyn has come back with a fresh new interest in studying world music and is now finishing up her last year at McNally Smith College of Music in St. Paul, Mn. She is immersing herself in the music scene of the twin cities and is preparing to release new material!
Shalyn has released a self-titled EP containing 4 original songs and a cover of Carole King's "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" in 2012. And her very first album My Dream in 2011.
